Water is the essence of life. Everyone needs clean drinking water daily. You can survive without food for 3 – 4 weeks, but only 3 – 4 days without water. Yet, unbelievably, more than a billion people still lack access to clean drinking water today. Every minute, approximately 3 children die from diseases resulting from this lack of access. This is unacceptable! The world’s water problems are man-made. Together, we can change that. Anyone can become a WIR sponsor! Whether an individual or a company, every contribution is welcome and goes directly to the target!
Every project is unique, and the conditions are challenging each time. However, through close collaboration with partners from business, culture, science, and politics, we can professionally address the framework conditions. Donations make a significant contribution – whether through financial means or in the form of services and materials. We always strive to keep administrative costs as low as possible, so that the vast majority of financial resources can flow directly into our projects. All projects and measures must therefore be optimally and efficiently prepared and implemented sustainably. Our projects are transparent and regularly documented in detail by local partners.
The WIR family includes companies, technology firms, municipalities, individuals, or other foundations, such as the Udo Lindenberg Foundation, which has supported us for many years. In selecting projects, we work closely with local governments, communities, institutions, and the UN-Habitat network.
